Fran opened her home in sunny Andalucia yesterday to raise money for the Bone Marrow transplant ward at the Manchester Childrens Hospital where her Grandson has been treated. The final count is not yet in but is likely to be in the hundreds.
With the support of family, friends and neighbours the day was equal to an English village fete. (But complete with glorious sunshine)
A shooting gallery provided a challenging event for all those who took part and ended up with a ‘shoot out’ to decide the winner.
With plenty of seating areas and, more importantly shaded areas, everyone settled into the afternoon.
Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses, family, friends and neighbours including a meal at a local restaurant, a tarot reading, a hair appointment, original paintings, chocolates, smellies and of course the inevitable cuddly toy and several bottles of cava!!
A locally baked fruit cake was used for ‘Guess the weight of the cake’. It was 1.9 kilos and was won by Sue, who proceeded to donate it to Matthew (as it was his birthday). Matthew then shared it with all the attendees……. and delicious it was too!!!!!
Raffle tickets being sold, quiz sheets handed out and hot dogs and tortillas being prepared and cooked.
Time for a game of ‘whisky push’, or just sitting in the shade.
A wonderful afternoon had by all and for a worthwhile cause.
